In simple language, the surgeon passes a thin telescope through the nostrils, reaches the narrow drainage openings of the sinuses, and widens them, clearing polyps and diseased tissue along the way. Everything happens through the natural passages of the nose, so there are no cuts on the face, no scars and no change in your appearance. The aim is not to remove the sinuses but to restore their natural drainage so they can look after themselves again, which is why the word functional sits in the name. The operation is done under anaesthesia and usually takes an hour or two. We do not operate at the clinic. What recovery honestly looks like

The first week is more about a blocked, crusty nose than about pain. Follow-up visits matter, because the surgeon gently cleans the healing passages so they stay open. Improvement builds over weeks, not overnight. And surgery does not switch off an allergy, so allergy care usually continues afterwards to protect the result. Anyone promising a permanent, guaranteed cure is overselling. What a well-done FESS realistically offers is a nose that drains properly and, for most people, fewer and milder infections.
